XT 600E start problem
Verfasst: Mi 23. Aug 2006, 16:52
Sorry for writing in English, my german is very bad. I can read answers in German without problem.
My XT does not start, starter runs, engine goes, no spark on the plug. The resistance values on the ignition coil are correct, except the first one (Primary Coil resistance) that should be 3.4 ~ 4.6 Ohm at 20C, I have 2,9 Ohm.
Secondary Coil resistance is within range, 10.4 ~ 15.6 Ohm at 20C, and also plug cap resistance is ok.
I tried to test the coil as follows:
Put the coil and spark plug (attached) on a wooden table, jumper from the plug's ground electrode to the coil's negative wire, then with a battery power up the coil's two wires. Tap one of the connections on and off. Each time, there should be a spark.
No result-no spark.
As a new coil from yamaha cost about 80 euro, someone has any hint? Can this small difference in Ohm prove the not working coil? Someone know where to get replacement coils at prices less crazy than this?
thanks to all for reading and any help.
