LeoVince X3

Beitrag von guest »

Hello!

I have a question...
I just bought a LeoVince X3 auspuff, for my 3TB 1991 XT600E.
Kedo.de mailed me that it will not fit unless if i make a brace myself :

its correct that the exhaust for XT600E/K before 1995 need to use the original mounting points, and thus acts like a part of the frame, or need to bring a brace ("Rahmenverbindungsstrebe") that supports the rear frame instead. Because the LeoVince exhaust is made for XT600E/K from 1995 and newer, it does use the original mounting points of the XT600E/K from 1995, not those of the XT600E/K before 1995 and it does not bring a brace. As a result, the LeoVince does not meet the needs for an exhaust for XT600E/K before 1995.

and :

yes, that could work, if you are able to build a brace yourself. As far as I know, the connection pipe of the LeoVince exhaust that connects the header pipe with the exhaust muffler does not interfere with an extra brace at the XT600E/K before 1995. Of course I do not know, if the LeoVince mounting material may be used of if there are additional parts be be made in order to fix the muffler to the frame.

Now, i held the X3 next to my orignal mounted auspuff, and i can't see a problem with connecting it (but i am an amateur). Does anybody here know something about dificulties with connecting the X3 to and older model XT600 ?

thanks!

think we had the pleasure before and hope you are fine.

Correct, between 90 and 94 the exhaust is a part of the bikes frame and guarantees stability. Therefore you need either

a) an exhaust like this Sebring (pay attention to the lower fixing flange)

or

b) a special brace, combining and stabilizing those 2 parts of the frame, which othervise would be combined by the exhaust. You may construct the brace on your own or order it over the net, e.g. at www.dirtbike.at (click "Yamaha", click "XT600", click "Auspuff und Krümmer", scroll down to "CRD Rahmenstütze" = that´s the brace) where it comes up to ? 22,00.

Because the LeoVince

Correct

Zen, my advice is to buy an appropriate exhaust for your bike, used via ebay or new from your dealer. I know that you could get a Sebring for your bike and a Marving, whereby the Marving use to come along with a kind of brace for those 90 to 94 models.

As I own a XT 600 E 3UW/3TB built in 93, and got the Sebring on it, I also recommend to clearly state your
- type of bike
- the year of make
- and you should ask your dealer precisely for that "lower mounting point" or an appropriate brace

Here in Germany we can get Marvings for appx. ? 180,00 and Sebrings for ? 280,00.

If you need further assistance, let us/me know.
